Customer Review: A Contemporary and very stylish looking high quality flatware

I got this set to compliment another modern looking flatware set "iittala Artik Flatware" which I thought is the best looking flatware out there for it's build quality and style. When we got this set from amazon I was surprised as it almost looked similar to iittala Artik set. WMF Taika set had more contemporary style and it looked as if the Artik set has been elongated on top and bottom to make it long. Very long!
The handles on this set are long, very long unlike anything we expect from flatware. They are almost as long as the chop-sticks we get in chinese restaurants. The long handles make it look very elegant. Inspite of the long handles, the weight of the flatware is comfortable to hold for long time. The stainless steel looks very vibrant and attractive like the one we see in Pro-style kitchen appliances.
If you prefer your flatware to be somewhere between very contemporary to some what traditional in style, iittala's Artik set is a better choice. iittala set also seems to have a little better build quality than WMF (this doesn't mean WMF is any less quality). The dessert spoon (the smallest spoon) is my favorite!
This set should please anyone who is looking for a very stylish, modern looking flatware with VERY high quality stainless steel. It will get lots of WOWs from your guests.

Perfect for special occasions or every day use, the Taika pattern is constructed from high-quality Cromargan 18/10 stainless-steel, and features a Euro-contemporary flair. Designed by Liisa Haataja and Pekka Korpijaako, each piece is highly polished and has an unusually long, slender handle. The knife turns on its side, allowing it to rest either on the blade edge or with the blade flat. The knife measures 9-1/2 inches in length, and the fork and soup spoon measure 9 inches. All of the pieces in this set are nicely balanced.Whether saved for special occasions or used every day, the Taika-pattern 18/10 stainless-steel flatware makes a definite contemporary statement. Each piece is highly polished and features an unusually long, slender handle. The knife turns midway, allowing it to rest either on the blade edge or with the blade flat. The knife measures 9-1/2 inches in length, and the fork and soup spoon measure 9 inches. Large hands might find the smaller spoon and salad fork a tad delicate, but they are elegantly balanced. The five-piece set includes one each: knife, dinner fork, salad fork, dinner spoon, and soup spoon. Dishwasher-safe, Taika flatware never needs polishing. --Ann Bieri
