Customer Review: A Great Product Gone Bad -- Don't Buy Until It Is What It Once Was

I bought an WMF decanter about three years ago and would have rated that one 5 stars. It was beautiful -- wonderful lines, heavy glass, lovely etched WMF at the base, and, most importantly, it worked perfectly to aerate the wine quickly and poured without the tiniest drop spilling down the body of the decanter.
Unfortunately, my original one was broken. I immediately ordered another, but, to my great disappointment, the company had decided to knock off its own product.
The new version has similar but not the same lines (the shape is not nearly so lovely, nor does the indent at the bottom have the same exquisite incline), the glass is thin, and, most importantly, the thing drips, leaving spots on the table cloth and rings on the counter.
I returned the item, which I didn't want to give even a single star but had to because without rating an item a review cannot be posted.
I sorely miss my original WMF easy pour decanter and hope that the company will return to making a product both lovely and functional.
Perhaps if enough customers who bought the original complain the company will again make what was, but no longer is, a marvelous product.

Perfect for decanting your favorite vino, this WMF Easy Pour Decanter features a classic wide base shape with an elegant curved neck. The indented well on the bottom allows for careful, one-handed pouring, by providing a place to secure your middle finger for a great grip. Decanting exposes the wine to more surface area and oxygen, allowing the wine to open up to its full potential, thus bringing out the very best qualities of the nose and flavor.Made of lead-free glass, this classic decanter holds one 750-milliliter bottle of wine. While the most common use of a decanter is to prevent sediment in an aged red wine from spoiling the wine's clarity and brilliance, some authorities also recommend decanting young red wines to give them the opportunity to bloom. In either case, this decanter brings elegance to the dinner table. And because it has an indented well in the bottom, steady, careful pouring is possible, as fingers fit securely into the well while the thumb grips atop the decanter's flared base.
